From barryblack.nrpc at gmail.com Fri Jun 10 21:11:18 2011 From: barryblack.nrpc at gmail.com (Black Barry) Date: Fri, 10 Jun 2011 21:11:18 -0400 Subject: [NRPC-nonres-announce] Need Seconders for Nominations for Regional NRPC Chairperson In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <01C79F94-D153-4F5A-B9A6-A097F6E026FB@gmail.com> Further to my email in May where I requested people to nominate themselves to take over my role as NRPC chairperson for the Non-Resident group, I am pleased to say that Ted Paczek has put his name forward for this role. I would greatly appreciate if any of you who know Ted would please email me, seconding this nomination so that we can put his name forward on the slate for the elections at the August Annual General Meeting. I would appreciate any responses by June 16th. Here is a brief bio on Ted supporting his nomination. Ted Paczek- Nortel Bio I started in 1976 in Toronto Ontario Canada with Bell Canada, owned by BCI (Bell Canada Enterprises) as was Northern Telecom at that time. In 1987, I joined Northern Telecom ? Cable Group as District Sales Manager responsible for sales of fiber cable and connectivity products into Bell Canada. I gradually opened other Canadian and US markets for fiber cable and IBDN (Integrated Building Distribution Network) and was promoted twice ending my Canadian career as Director, Sales ? Access Networks. In 1991, I was permanently transferred to Chicago, IL as Director, Sales ? Data Networks to spearhead the introduction of IBDN into the US market. After that, as Director, Sales ? Western Region, I became responsible for a sales team dedicated to sales of data, voice, outside plant and power products in western half of the USA. In 1995, given the problems Nortel was having (thank you Dr. Paul Stern), they decided to sell non-core divisions of which Cable Group was one. So I left but I did leave my Canadian and American pension with Nortel. So now I am in the same boat as many of you and am concerned about any activity that impacts what little pension I have left. That is why I am interested in representing you and myself as the Regional Chairperson for the Non-Residents group of the NRPC. If you wish to see the rest of my career positions in the USA, please go to the following link: http://www.linkedin.com/in/tjpaczek Thanks and I am looking forward to serving you, Ted Paczek Of course, if there is anyone else who wishes to be considered for this role, you are still entitled to do so but we would need any additional nominations by 16 June 2011. best regards... Members of the NRPC will be able to vote on the slate of Directors of the Board during the AGM process. I have held the position of Regional Chairperson for the Non-Residents group for 2 years now and it would be a good time for someone else to take over that role so that we can inject some new ideas and new energy into the board. Although the Canadian politicians are not interested in those of us who no longer live in Canada, we can still influence them through our friends and relatives in Canada and through supporting the activities of NRPC in general. There are over 1200 former employees of Nortel Canada now living in 42 countries outside of Canada. As non-residents, our situation is a little different than those living in Canada and it is important that we have a say in the operation of the NRPC to ensure that the directions taken by the NRPC and our legal representatives protect our interests just as well as those who remain in Canada. > > If you are interested in this opportunity to serve your fellow former employees, please give serious consideration to putting yourself forward as a candidate. There will be a formal nomination process announced before the AGM. Note that the chairperson for the Non-Resident group must reside outside of Canada. > > Finally, let me remind you that within a couple of weeks, the NRPC will stop sending emails or letters out to anyone who has not paid their 2011 NRPC Membership fee. If you haven't paid yours, please do it right away. > > regards...
